WOW! LOCATION AND VIEWS !! ONE OF THE BEST HOMES IN ALL OF SAN DIEGO - PERFECT FOR FAMILIES AND BUSINESS TRAVELERS.
Near the very top of Pacifica Drive overlooking the best parts of San Diego, our 4-bedroom home has beautiful water views in three directions. The bay, the ocean, and the jetty provide the best views in San Diego.
This home is not your typical rental with bare walls and stiff sheets; it welcomes its visitors with all the luxuries and amenities of vacationing within their own home.
The custom built details and personalized decorations create the feeling of luxury and comfort. The handcrafted kitchen contains top of the line appliances and beautiful counter tops and its open layout allows for easy entertainment for family and friends.
Please note - that while the home is beautifully situated for indoor / outdoor use - we have strict guidelines regarding noise, in accordance with City of San Diego laws.
We respect our neighbors greatly, and simply ask that you do the same. We do penalize aggressively for violations of this - including reportings by neighbors or ticketings by police.
The two full bathrooms are a mix of beachy eclectic and old-world antiquey, with the master en suite bathroom housing a large glass shower, and two large vanities with dual sinks. This home has three televisions with cable and Internet provided as well as DVR recorders so you won't miss your favorite shows while enjoying all that Pacific Beach has to offer. Within the dinning area there is seating for 6 people and the four bedrooms and allow for the sleeping of 8 people comfortably.
The beds are:
Master Bedroom - one eastern king
Second Bedroom ("Nadine Room") - one Queen
Third Bedroom - ("Hamburgler / Beach Room") - two twins
Fourth Bedroom - ("Bird Room") - full
We do note in the listing that we can accommodate 9 people. That means however that we also provide two fold out sleeping pads - which is most likely ideal for younger guests (kids). We do have 5 beds but again, as noted, 2 are twins which makes it appropriate for a single sleeper. Thus we think 8 can comfortably sleep in beds and 1 more can sleep on fold-out foam mattress pads (new 3/1/2015). Please note this before booking.
A beautiful backyard patio area has plenty of lounging areas to enjoy the beach air and sun. From the backyard of this beautiful home you can overlook Mission Bay, and Pacific Beach to the West. During the summer watch the fireworks from Seaworld. The garden patio has a grill and firepit.
This home comes with a driveway parking space for two cars and ample street parking.
The stunning location allows for the enjoyment of Sea World's fireworks in the summer as well as the ease and access to all of San Diego's other beautiful sights and events.
This is a quiet neighborhood and is the perfect getaway for a relaxing vacation with the fun and excitement within reach. Quiet hours are after 10pm in which all must be off the backyard and patios with doors and windows closed if the fun is brought inside. Our neighborhood echoes and we respect all of our neighboring tenants. All parties and events are restricted and must be pre-approved with owner's permission.
A little more info about the house)
The house has gone through many transformations over the years. When my parents first bought the house in 1986, the backyard was all stones. (not so inviting) There is now grass and plenty of room for children to run and play.
New to the yard, for your enjoyment, is a large sectional sofa and fire pit. Although the yard is a full sun yard, we are very close to the ocean, and as soon as the sun sets, the cushions will get dewy from moisture. On sunny days the sun will dry the cushions fairly quickly, but if you want to get up and drink your morning coffee (or mimosa) overlooking beautiful Mission Bay and sit on dry cushions, we strongly recommend that you stack all the cushions under the patio cover in the evening near the bedroom sliding door. This will keep the cushions dry. We have enclosed a picture of how we have done it and we promise you, it works! The few minutes that it takes to do this will be worth it.
Around the back corner of the house by the master bedroom is a brown container with painter's tarps in them. You can stack the cushions on a tarp to keep them clean, or if it is not windy out, you can cover the furniture (with the cushions still on them) with the tarps overnight. This will probably take 2 people to maneuver the bigger tarps. The tarps can be folded and stored in the container. We have not purchased furniture covers because the only ones we can find for a large sectional require it to be broken down into 3 sections, and the sectional is secured together with hooks so it will stay together nicely for our guests. If it is going to rain, we ask that you place the cushions under the patio cover so they stay dry. Thank you.
The fire pit and BBQ have their own covers. It is best if it rains to wheel the BBQ under the patio cover. We have included instructions to light the fire pit and BBQ. They both operate on propane. We ask for safety reasons that you shut off the propane tanks when you are not using them. Thank you.
The lights under the patio cover can be turned on for evening dining from two switches. One is near the sliding door in the Big TV Room and one is by the sliding door in the Master Bedroom.
As the sun sets, the yard can become full sun depending on the time of year. We have installed roller shades on the corners of the patio cover as well as the corner windows of the living room. The hand cranks to roll them up and down are in the front closet across from the front door. They are very easy to use.
The umbrella stand will roll to where ever you would like to roll it to on the patio. You will need to release the little brake clips on the base and reset them once you have moved it to where you want it. This is very easy to do. Also, the umbrella has a tilt which can be very helpful to block the sun. If for some reason it becomes very windy…please close and secure the umbrella. Thank you.
Depending on the time of year…you will be able to enjoy what remains of our father's roses. He loved, loved, loved tending to his roses, and when he was alive they thrived and were so beautiful. He planted roses for many of his neighbors and taught them how to prune them. For a big, burly Irishman…he had a very delicate touch. Every Sunday he would clip a rose from the garden and put it in a bud vase for my mom. There is a bud vase in the kitchen cabinet. Feel free to clip one for your enjoyment.
Our father also loved to feed the birds. He had hummingbird feeders all around the yard. He also left peanuts in the courtyard for the Blue- jays. He was an amazing whistler and would whistle beautiful songs to the birds when they would come to visit.
Finally, our father was a golfer. It was probably one of the few things in life that made him grumpy. (a bad golf day) There were many golfing statues in the yard over the years. We left the golfer weathervane that we bought our dad as a gift probably 20 years ago. It looks beautiful silhouetted against a sunset sky.
After our father passed, our mom placed the “Gardensaurous" in the yard to watch over his gardens. We affectionately call him “Dini". He's pretty cute.
The gardener comes every Thursday between 1pm-2pm to mow and trim the yard. He will be there about an hour. The sprinklers should go off during the night while you are sleeping. If for any reason they go off during the day please call Air Concierge so they can reset them for you.
There are 4 bedrooms. In them you will find several of our parent's antiques and tiffany style lamps. In the Master Bedroom is a Queen Anne Wardrobe. This room has a King sized bed. Our mother had shamrock green tile installed in the bathroom because our father was Irish. Our mom loved Victorian and whimsical things. She loved the colors pink and red. We left the pink carpet in the bedrooms in her honor. She became quite a collector of fairytale objects. She especially liked Snow White.
Mom liked to collect things with her name on them. We call the middle bedroom the “Nadine Room". The yellow picture named “Nadine" was a gift from our father many years ago. She liked dollies and lacy things. They were all over the house. She was very much a lady and a self professed hopeless romantic. This room has one of her favorite lamps in it. Of course it has roses on it. This room has a Queen sized bed.
As you continue down the hall, the bedroom on the right we are calling the “Birdie Room" in honor of our father. This used to be his home office. In this room is another one of their beautiful tiffany lamps, an antique Snow White picture, and some of Mom's needle point pictures. This room has a full sized bed.
Across the hall is a room inspired by their grandsons Ryan and Joel both now in their early 20's. I call it the “Hamburgler Room". My husband prefers to call it the “Beach Room". For Christmas a few years back, they received matching striped sweatshirts from their grandparents and when they put the hoods on I told them they looked like “Hamburglers" from the McDonald's commercial. They still wear those sweatshirts today. This was the room the grandkids would stay in when they came to visit. They would usually camp out on the floor. There are two twin beds in this room and a DVR to play movies.
The fireplace in the living room has a gas starter. The key to turn on the gas is to the right of the fireplace. There is a bic lighter in the drawer in the cabinet to the right. Open the doors to the fireplace screen… Light the lighter…Turn the key on the wall SLIGHTLY to the left… Touch the flame on the lighter by the point of the ceramic pinecone in front of the logs…this will ignite the gas…Adjust the flame to go higher with the key…Close the screen doors. (we were advised by the company that installed the unit not to make the flame super high) For safety reasons, please do not go to sleep with the fireplace on and always make sure the gas is completely shut off when you are done. Thank you.
The thermostat for heating and cooling is on the wall facing the living room. Most days you won't need air conditioning. The ocean breeze will cool the house. There is a beautiful cross breeze throughout most of the house. Please help us control costs by not leaving the heater or air conditioner running when it is not necessary or when you are not at home!!! This will help keep the rental costs down.
This house was built in the 60's and currently still has its original plumbing. Please only use the septic safe TP provided and do not flush anything else down the toilets. The plumbing will not be able to handle it. This also applies to the sink in the kitchen. Please only put small items down the garbage disposal. Thank you.
Most importantly, PLEASE REMEMBER, it is best not to drink the water from the faucets. Drink the bottled water we provided for you.
PLEASE NOTE: In our house rules, we request that guests follow the trash pickup dates -- trash day for pickup is early Monday am - we therefore kindly ask our guests as a condition of renting our home to help us bring the black can (weekly) out to the curb on Sunday evening and back in Monday afternoon should their stay overlap. We realize that in most cases you're not taking out your trash - but we think of this as Paying it Forward since the guests after you will be doing the same thing. We actually will confirm this during the booking that this will work for you.
PLEASE NOTE: This home is located in a family neighborhood and is only suitable for quieter groups. Our rental agreement includes a no tolerance policy regarding excessive noise and/or parties. Deposit forfeitures and/or evictions are strictly enforced. Please make sure you are comfortable with these policies before renting our home.
With the ocean view, the beach is just down the hill. See (website hidden) map link. (website hidden) We are close to two streets of restaurants.

Other things to note
Please note that our minimum stay varies throughout the year.
The quiet and family orientated neighborhood makes your stay safe. Our home is enclosed with fences for your kids and pets. Our streets are well lit for evening walks.
A note about our cleaning and cleaning fees: When you book this property you are paying for a full cleaning following your departure. That also means you should expect a cleaned and prepared home prior to your arrival. Your cleaning fee however also covers other services, (depending on the street and city in which the home is located) but may include other items like outdoor areas, pools and/or hot tubs, laundry, wiping down of appliances and kitchen drawers and cabinets, vacuuming, dusting, wiping down windows, and generally what would be considered a complete house cleaning. Our fees are also paid in accordance with California wage and hour laws. We therefore have tax implications as do our cleaning vendors and as such our rates may be higher than what a person/private host may charge who does the work themselves and accepts payment under the table (and does not report earnings for tax purposes). Our cleaners also always show up and on time. We are paying them for that consistency as it means you should not ever walk into a home that has not been cleaned or cleaned poorly. We hope that helps add color on this portion of the reservation cost.
