Work or leisure, this suite gives you the perfect balance between tranquility from the bustle and proximity to it all. Madrona is an upscale, residential neighborhood on the Eastern side of Seattle. It's close to the water (Lake Washington) and close to the city (Cap Hill, First Hill, and Downtown) with quick access to highways such as WA-520. It's best described as a calm oasis in the city.

This is a first floor apartment, separate but attached to the main home in which a tenant resides in a completely separate and private part of the main home. There are separate and lockable entry doors for both units.

All parts of the unit featured in the photographs are for you to enjoy. But beyond that we encourage you to explore one of the best neighborhoods in Seattle, Madrona.

Here are a few fun and/or helpful things around the suite. These are generally 15-20 mins away walking.

Madrona Park & Beach is located on the waterfront on Lake Washington and provides a nice area for a picnic or a swim in the lake. It’s about 19 mins walk including a small off-street trail. Most of the way there is downhill and remember to save up some energy for the climb back. :)

Lake Washington is a nice destination to watch the sunrise over the mountains and the city of Bellevue. There is a nice path by the water where you can go for a stroll, run, or bike ride. At the end of the pathway, you’ll find a few restaurants, bars, and a local grocery shop with lots of goodies. This list includes Daniel’s Broiler – Leschi, Meet the Moon, Bluwater Bistro – Leschi, Starbucks, and Leschi Market.

Washington Park Arboretum is a public park jointly managed by the City of Seattle and the University of Washington. It’s a 20 mins walk from the suite and is about 4 miles round trip if you decide to loop around the park and back to the suite. The park has various interconnected trails that provide you with a very wide selection of trees and wildlife. I highly recommend exploring the park without a map and just feeling your way through it on a nice afternoon.

Seattle Japanese Gardens is a 3.5-acre Japanese garden located on the southern end of the Washington Park Arboretum on Lake Washington Boulevard East. It’s a 20 mins walk from the suite and you can easily spend a couple of hours there.

Union Street is a newly developing artery of the Central District in Seattle. The stretch between Martin Luther King Jr Way and 20th Avenue is full of restaurants, coffee shops, and bars. Here are a few locations to check out: Cortona Café, Union Coffee, Feed Co. Brugers, Neighbor Lady, and Chuck’s Hop Shop.

Grocery Outlet Bargain Market is a discount chain for groceries is a 5-min walk from the suite. You’ll find a selection of essentials such as foods, gifts, beer, and wine.

Madrona Farmers Market is located in the parking lot of the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market on Fridays between 3PM and 7PM during the months of May to Sep. Actual timing and specific opening days change yearly so please check online or ask me for details. This is a fun way to shop for some local produce before heading back home and preparing a good meal.

Other things to note

We like to think of this as truths about the home. We want all of our guests to get the full picture, and while we think the home is immensely special and unique, it is a home (not a hotel) and has its own nuances and quirks: we'll share the things that are probably no-big-deal and may never even present themselves, but nonetheless, what you should know:

Home truths: The upstairs tenants have a little dog. Again, in the upstairs unit. He's very friendly to people but it's highly unlikely that Airbnb guests will see/interact with him. You may hear him bark every once in a while but that's very infrequent and almost never in the middle of the night. There are outdoor security cameras on the property.
In spring/summer, there may be a few rogue ants around the property. We have a regular pest control service scheduled so that takes care of most of it. But there's a chance that some might sneak in the hotter months. Again, we've never heard anyone complain.
