This is a classic San Francisco home built in 1913 and lovingly cared for by all of its owners. It is in a fantastic neighborhood, within 2 blocks of everything you need. It is located within a block of a public transportation train that will take you to the ocean or downtown for $2.75. It is a warm, comfortable, and fun home.

The space

This 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath home located in the heart of the Inner Sunset neighborhood is the perfect base for families and groups of friends who want to be within easy walking distance (3 flat blocks) of the treasures of central Golden Gate Park (the deYoung Museum, the California Academy of Sciences, the Botanical Garden, the Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake, the Conservatory of Flowers, and the Chinese Pavilion). It is also within 2 blocks of some of the best inexpensive restaurants (Indian, South Indian, Eritrean, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, American, and seafood) in the city. In addition, there are gourmet bakeries, groceries, coffee houses, banks, drycleaners, shoe stores, clothing stores, a post office, a UPS store, and a farmer’s market (on Sundays) – all within two blocks!

Just outside the front door, on the corner, one can catch the N-Judah MUNI line (the electric trolley/train) and for $2.75, take a 10 minute ride west to Ocean Beach (and other locations in Golden Gate Park) or 20 minute ride east to the Castro, Civic Center, downtown, Union Square, and the Embarcadero along the San Francisco Bay.

On the first floor of the house are the entry way, a half-bathroom, the garage (which holds a small car and has a small home gym), a laundry room, and the door to the secure, serene, landscaped side yard (which contains a charcoal BBQ and a bistro table). On the second floor are the beautiful living room, formal dining room (seats 8), and kitchen. On the third floor are three bedrooms – two guest rooms on the east and the master bedroom on the west – and two full bathrooms (one with a claw-foot bathtub). Each bedroom has: light- and sound-blocking window coverings and sound machines to help you sleep, extra pillows and bedding, an iPod player, and a space heater/fan.

In the living room is a collapsible queen sized bed with frame. It is very easy to assemble. There is also an (easily movable) extra twin-sized bed in the garage that can be relocated to any room. We have plenty of books, games, a keyboard, and an old mountain bike to borrow. We also have two pack-n-plays for babies and toddlers. Let us know if we should leave them out for you.

We have also included upgraded (2019) safety equipment: 10-year smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, first aid kits, earthquake kits, and fire ladders.

Important detail regarding "Parking": One car will fit in the garage. A second car may be parked on the street, in front of our driveway (not actually IN the driveway, blocking the sidewalk!!!) We cannot block the sidewalk but we can block the driveway.

Special instructions for Street Parking: 11th Avenue does not have permitted or metered parking; therefore some people park there for long periods of time. Street cleaning on our (west) side of 11th Avenue is on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 8-10 am. Street cleaning on the opposite (east) side of 11th Avenue is on the 1st and 3rd Mondays from 8-10 am. Guests should watch out for spots on other blocks that are labeled for "J" permits... these are two hour spots unless you have a J permit.

Important details regarding "Kitchen and Dining": There is a small bar area between the kitchen and dining room that has two stools, so 8 people can sit in the dining room at one time.

Other things to note

A note about our cleaning and cleaning fees: When you book this property you are paying for a full cleaning following your departure. That also means you should expect a cleaned and prepared home prior to your arrival. Your cleaning fee however also covers other services, (depending on the street and city in which the home is located) but may include other items like outdoor areas, pools and/or hot tubs, laundry, wiping down of appliances and kitchen drawers and cabinets, vacuuming, dusting, wiping down windows, and generally what would be considered a complete house cleaning. Our fees are also paid in accordance with California wage and hour laws. We therefore have tax implications as do our cleaning vendors and as such our rates may be higher than what a person/private host may charge who does the work themselves and accepts payment under the table (and does not report earnings for tax purposes). Our cleaners also always show up and on time. We are paying them for that consistency as it means you should not ever walk into a home that has not been cleaned or cleaned poorly. We hope that helps add color on this portion of the reservation cost.

It was a great neighborhood - close to public transportation and lots of shops and restaurants. And the house was lovely and well equipped. There was an issue with a delay in getting the house cleaned prior to us arriving but Tate was very responsive and gave us a reduction in our rate.

The house and our time in SF was great! The house's Sunset neighborhood location near Golden Gate Park was perfect for us. It was easy to get there from the airport -- 380 to 280 to Rt 1. Nice in the park for morning strolls, convenient to food stores and restaurants, and easy from there over the GG Bridge to wine country. House was spacious and clean. We were five - parents and three adult children - and used three bedrooms and a blow-up bed in the living room. Nice having off-street garage parking. Close to public transportation - with a little city-noise rumbling when trams went up the cross street nearby. Otherwise, good quiet neighborhood. Overall a wonderful first-time AirBnB experience.

We came for a 4-day tech conference, you know, the kind where you stand on your feet for 12 hours pitching your company to investors and press. So, the idea was to find a place that was far removed from the high speed hustle and bustle that typically surrounds an event like that. Each day we felt like we were coming home. Comfort met you on every level, from the warmth of the wood finishes, the tasteful decor, to the bedding and seating adorned with extra pillows and throw blankets. With over 1000 books to loose ourselves in, we found unlimited opportunities to decompress and prepare for the next day. Inner Sunset provided us with amazing dining, and coffee experiences. Golden Gate park a couple blocks away and a sort (straight-shot) drive to the beach and the landmark, Cliff House restaurant. This home is idyllically situated to experience San Francisco. We will return- again and again.

Tate wasn't there to meet us but we gained access after a phone call giving us the security lock number. We liked the area and loved the house. My family were blown away by the beautiful property and we fell in love with San Francisco. The house felt like a home from home and Tate went to some trouble to give us helpful advice about attractions etc.

Lovely home in a vibrant area-owners had put all their possessions tidily out of the way and left house in a welcoming state. Excellent TV channels for us golf and sports nuts. Train easy to access. A real find and above expectations. The owners are lucky to have this place to come back to!

We loved the house and the Inner Sunset area, especially being near Golden Gate park. This was perfect for adults and kids! There was lots of space for all of us (6) and we found getting around by muni or uber really easy. Thanks!

Very spacious house and extremely convenient location, closer to the grocery shopping, Goldengate park and coffee shops. We are two families and we definitely enjoyed the stay there. We would love to stay in the same place if we come back another time.

The house is fantastic, it is a huge 3 floored house decorated with good taste. We were a 2 couples and 2 singles family and it fitted us very well. (they even provided a self pumped air mattress) Tate was very helpful and did a run around the house showing everything we might need to know. They got a pretty fast Internet and very good household appliances also a fully equipped kitchen. The neighborhood is pretty calm and safe, with a very nice supermarket a few blocks away, also some pubs and parks that you can visit on foot. We couldn't fit our Grand Caravan in the garage but it does fit fine at the front of the house so no troubles there. We have no pets, but it its a pet-friendly house, since they left blankets for the furry ones around the house.

Dieses Haus in San Francisco war unsere erste Erfahrung mit airbnb – und eine sehr erfreuliche. Die Einrichtung ist sehr liebvoll und alles war sauber und entsprach unseren Vorstellungen. Die Lage des Hauses ist ideal, um die Stadt ohne Auto zu erkunden. Mit der MUNI erreicht man alle wichtigen Sehenswürdigkeiten innert 50 Minuten. Und sieht dabei noch die tollen Quartiere von San Francisco. Wir können diese Location vorbehaltslos empfehlen und werden sicher wieder kommen.
