Charming two-story quintessential Traditional located in Westwood Hills. Built in the late 1930s and home to silent movie director Rollin Sturgeon and his actress wife Edna Fisher Sturgeon, much of its original architectural characteristics remain intact including an outdoor incinerator that now is used as a fireplace where you can enjoy your morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Having been impeccably maintained over the decades, this home exudes an abundance of charm at every turn!

The space

A lovely, tasteful, and well-appointed home with easy access to UCLA/Westwood Village/405 Freeway.

Bathed in an abundance of natural light, the rooms are open and spacious. The large living room with fireplace and TV opens to the verdant back patio spaces as does the wonderful cook's kitchen through banks of French doors.

The true hub of this home, its the bright and expansive eat-in kitchen that has everything a discerning chef would desire. The formal dining room is framed by a large bay window and is perfect to enjoy a homemade dinner. A powder bath and pantry complete the first floor. This home comfortably sleeps 6. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms including an expansive en-suite master bedroom with King bed and two walk-in closets. Two additional bedrooms share an updated hall bathroom. First guest bedroom features a Queen bed and a work/study station (chair and desk; no computer). Second guest bedroom is a nursery with crib and futon (futon it is a bit smaller than a Queen).

The private, lush backyard has several tranquil alfresco spaces. Perfect for dining, barbecuing and lounging. The hillside above, serene with its mature landscape, includes beautiful oak and fruit trees and feels just like having one's own nature preserve. It offers several areas for quiet contemplation while enjoying the views.

This home is fully equipped with all you could need for a relaxing & delightful stay!

*Fully equipped kitchen: Refrigerator, Stove, Oven, Microwave, Dishwasher, Coffee Maker (Nespresso), Toaster, Dishes Utensils

*Living room has a TV with streaming, fireplace and stereo.

*Games, books and toys are also available for more entertainment.

*Central Heating and AC; bedrooms also have ceiling fans but it is generally cool on the west side of LA.

*A Pack n Play is available

*Washer and Dryer in the garage

*Beach towels and chairs -- we're only 10 minutes from the beach! (without traffic)

*Patio with outdoor furniture to hangout, BBQ and an outdoor bathtub (it is not a hot tub)

*There is a garden and fruit trees and you should see some tomatoes, peaches, cucumbers, blueberries, and more, growing this summer!!!

PARKING: Garage is available for 1 car and 1 car (or 2 small/compact) can park on the driveway. Street parking with permit only and we won't provide permits.

Other things to note

Home Truths:

*There is some road noise if you leave the windows open at night.

*Do not leave food out as it can attract ants.

*Be careful with young children as there is no safety proofing of any kind in the home especially in the backyard - the garden is on a hill and has stairs without railing.

*Long and steep stair in the backyard/garden - BE CAUTIOUS!! Kids should not go up unaccompanied.

*Outdoor bathtub has a cover that should be used when not in use.

*From the top of the garden you will have views of the VA cemetery.

Please inquire before confirming your booking if you're not 100% sure about the space. The descriptio and the pictures were meant to describe it as much as possible, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask them.

No one likes rules, least of all, us -- but we do have a few requirements so that the home is in as perfect a shape for each guest as possible.

-Please respect check-in and checkout times.
-Primary renter must be over the age of 25.
-Host may request a photocopy of renter's ID for verification before check-in.
-This is a private property and the host reserves the right to access the property at any time to perform maintenance repairs necessary or requested by the renter.
-Maintenance schedule: we are unable to offer refunds or credits for inconveniences due to scheduling and maintenance done during your stay. We also request that our maintenance teams are not turned away if they should overlap your stay. Such instances can result in a $100 penalty as we will still incur a 'show up' charge, even if no work is performed.
-Absolutely no parties or loud music.
-This is a NON-SMOKING property.
-NO animals or pets of any kind are permitted at the Property except (1) as specifically authorized in your reservation, or (2) bona fide service animals that we are required by law to allow. Emotional support animals are not permitted except as authorized pets. You agree that a prohibition on animals is not a guarantee that an animal has not been inside the Property or that the Property is free of animal or pet allergens. If pets were to be brought without our consent and knowledge, guests will have their reservation canceled immediately.

-Potential for noise — There is some road noise if you leave the windows open at night.

-Must climb stairs — 2-story home. 2 flights of stairs to get to the bedrooms on second floor. Many steps in the backyard. Very steep stair in the backyard.

-Security camera/recording device — Property may have outdoor security cameras aimed on the exterior of home, doorbell camera and/or an alarm system for the safety of house & its occupants. Non-recording audio monitoring devices might be installed onsite to warn us of excessive noise & avoid complaints. One camera points to backyard.

-Pool/hot tub without a gate or lock — Outdoor bathtub has a cover that should be used when not in use.

-Heights without rails or protection — Backyard garden is on a hill and has some stone stairs without railing. Very long and steep stair. Be cautious! Kids should not go up unaccompanied.
