Discover Desert Diamond Retreat, a prime example of mid-century modern design located in the heart of Palm Springs. This property, the first of seven steel houses designed by Wexler & Harrison in the 1960s, represents a significant era of architectural innovation. These homes were rediscovered in the 90s and early 2000s, earning a spot on the National Register of Historic Houses in 2012. Our house was the last of the seven homes to be restored, and Donald Wexler was consulted on some details.

The retreat celebrates Donald Wexler's legacy, offering sleek lines and a design that complements the desert landscape. Noteworthy features include its distinctive rooflines and original landscaping. The home in Racquet Club Estates is perfect for those appreciating architectural history blended with modern amenities.

The Space

This 1962 George Alexander-built home harmonizes with its surroundings through expansive windows and thoughtful restoration. It accommodates up to 4 guests in two bedrooms and two baths, featuring an open-plan living area and a modern kitchen. The family room is ideal for board games and relaxation, promising a memorable stay.

Enjoy luxury with a heated saltwater pool, two King bedrooms with mountain views, and an outdoor area with a BBQ grill and fire pit. The home offers high-speed wifi, a fully equipped kitchen, and on-site laundry facilities for convenience. Artwork and sculptures adorn the space, enhancing the mid-century ambiance while ensuring privacy and tranquillity.

Located just 2.5 miles from downtown Palm Springs, Desert Diamond Retreat is close to shopping, dining, and attractions like the Aerial Tramway and North Lykken Trail. The home provides stunning mountain views, comprehensive bathroom and laundry facilities, a smart TV, central heating and cooling, and security features for a safe stay.

The kitchen is stocked with appliances and dining essentials, and the private backyard offers a saltwater pool and outdoor furniture for relaxation. Long-term stays are welcome, with discounts for week-long visits.

Additional Notes

Respecting the home's original architecture and furnishings, we ask guests to help preserve its condition. The pool and landscaping are professionally maintained, ensuring a pleasant outdoor experience. Please observe local noise ordinances and parking guidelines, supporting a respectful and enjoyable stay for all.

Booking Requirements

The primary Occupant must be at least 25 years old, adhering to Palm Springs vacation rental guidelines. Noise ordinances prohibit outdoor music to maintain a peaceful environment. Registration number 5010 highlights our commitment to compliance and guest satisfaction.

Taxes: Guests will be charged the TOT and TBID taxes.

Pool Heating and Spa (if applicable to this property):
- Pool heating can be hired for the whole stay: $150 for the first day then $100/day thereafter. Please inquire about extra fees if booking long (28+ night) stays;
- Pool heating when hired is limited to 84F;
- Pool does not need to be heated during the Summer months (June-August) it’s usually 80F+ naturally;
- Hosts will not be able to provide any refunds for occasional non-working pool heating that occur during your stay but we will do our best to have it solved in a timely manner.

Parking available is limited to (1) car per bedroom = 2 vehicles maximum.

We would deduct from the security deposit any fines, citations, or penalties imposed against us for actions triggering a violation of the City of Palm Springs. See examples of such in our House Rules.

In the City of Palm Springs, the primary Occupant must be at least 25 years of age or older. By continuing with this reservation, the primary Occupant represents that they are older than 25 years of age and further warrants that other occupants are either over the age of 25 or are accompanied by an adult guardian.

NOISE: Palm Springs has strict ordinances that govern vacation rentals. In particular, we want you to note that "NO outside music is allowed at vacation rental homes." We all love our tunes out by the pool, but it's just not allowed by law. Music is not to be heard at the property lines at any time of the day (including music coming from inside the home). Please abide by this rule, so you don't get fined by the police and so we don't lose our vacation rental permit.

No one likes rules, least of all, us -- but we do have a few requirements so that the home is in as perfect a shape for each guest as possible.
-Please respect check-in and checkout times. Check-in: 4pm-10pm. Checkout: 11am
-Primary renter must be over the age of 25, have a fully verified profile and previous positive reviews inside Airbnb.
-Local ordinance requires host to obtain a photocopy of the renter's ID for verification before check-in.
-This is a private property and the host reserves the right to access the property at any time to perform maintenance repairs necessary or requested by the renter.
-Landscaping & Pool maintenance schedule: we are unable to offer refunds or credits for inconveniences due to scheduling and maintenance done during your stay. We also request that our maintenance teams are not turned away if they should overlap your stay.
-Absolutely no parties or loud music.
-This is a NON-SMOKING property.
- The pool can get dirty very quickly at times due to desert weather. We'll do our best to get the pool company out there as soon as possible.
- The pool is not very deep and is not meant for diving. Please, watch your children closely in the pool, and swim at your own risk. Never let children unattended in the pool area.
- It can be very windy in the area; umbrellas MUST be furled and tied when not in use or windy. If umbrellas are broken due to wind damage, guests will be charged a replacement fee.
- Cleaning supplies are in places that children can easily access. Please take caution.
-This is a pet-friendly spot. If you are allergic or don't like pets, this might not be a good fit!

PET POLICY:

-One adult dog up to 50lbs allowed. Cats are not allowed anytime.

-Dog must be house and potty trained and cannot be left alone or on furniture.

-Pet fee is required and non refundable

-Guest assumes full responsibility for all and any damage caused by the pet during the stay. Pet fee is not meant to cover accidents to carpets and/or furniture, nor picking up after your dog or excessive fur cleaning; pet owner will be held responsible for all and any damages.

-Please do not let your dog go in the pool to avoid additional charges.

-If pets were to be brought without our consent and knowledge, guests will have to pay twice the pet fee or will have their reservation cancelled immediately.

PET ETIQUETTE:

-Control their barking - if you have a loud dog, please never leave it in the home alone.

-Don’t let them treat everything like a fire hydrant (inside and outside the home).

-Play is fun, but silence is golden - be respectful of the neighbors.

-Keep them on leash while outside the home.

-Always pick up after your dog.

-Wash those paws and minimize bringing messes inside the home.

***URGENT - PLEASE READ ***

Due to new stricter regulations in Palm Springs, now every guest who books a Vacation Rental in the city is required to receive the Good Neighbor Brochure and also have all guests in the party fill out and sign the Statement of Rules BEFORE having access to the property. In addition to that, we need a list of all guests' vehicles, including license plate numbers and also a copy of your Government ID.

As the person booking this property, you are the main point of contact and person responsible for ensuring your guests comply with the house rules and City rules. Please be advised that the City will fine renters in $500 per occurrence without notice if they fail to comply with the local ordinance.

The main sources of violations are:

-An excessive and unaccounted number of guests onsite

-An excessive number of cars

-Loud outdoor music (and this includes playing music from inside the home so you can hear it outside)

-Trash left outside and on sight

Please send us the FIRST and LAST NAMES and EMAILS from every adult staying at the house.

Only registered guests as listed on the rental agreement should be on the premises. No additional guests or visitors allowed.

*The current emergency orders in place supersede information in the Good Neighbor Brochure and the Rental Certificate regarding daytime guests.

We apologize for any inconvenience, however, the City of Palm Springs is not treating this lightly and everyone has to obey and adapt to the new scenario.

-Potential for noise — Glazing is single pane, original from the 60's so outside can be heard. Humming from pool filter from 9am-4pm. The home is near the airport path, so noise can sometimes be heard.
